Nîmes Car Rental

Enterprise Car Rental Locations in Nîmes

Set between the sapphire blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the spectacular Cevennes mountains, Nimes has an enviable location on the southern coast of France. It is one of the most charming and attractive cities in the Occitania region, and indeed beyond, with a rich and visible history which dates back to the days of the Roman Empire - the Roman remains here are amongst the finest in France. But there are plenty of other reasons to visit Nimes, from the picturesque old town and its gardens to the other historic sites in the region. Then there is its location, ideal for trips out to the Cevennes National Park, now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and to the Camargue wetlands to the south.

For any trip to Nimes, organize a car rental to get the most from your trip. This can be done by pre-booking online for pick up at Nimes Airport, which is just a 20-minute drive to the south of the city along the A54.

Our Vehicles For Rent In Nimes

Enterprise offers a variety of vehicles for rent. Mini and Economy (three or five-door) class cars, such as the Renault Twingo or Opel Corsa, are the ultimate city cars, ideal for nipping about town and parking and maneuvering in tricky spaces. They’re a great choice for individuals and couples with less baggage who want to make the most of driving in the city and are the cheapest option.

A step up are Compact Manual, Economy Diesel, and Intermediate Manual, such as the Citroen C4, Renault Clio or Peugeot 38, which come with a little more space for traveling in comfort with more passengers or over longer distances. Larger Standard Diesel vehicles, such as the Opel Insignia, or Compact Minivans, such as the Renault Captur, offer even more space. At the top end of the scale are Compact station wagon/Estate class vehicles such as the Peugeot 38 SW and Standard Wagon class such as the Peugeot 58, which offers features such as cruise control, power steering/brakes, diesel fuel and GPS navigation. Finally, for large groups, there is the Minivan 7 Passenger class, such as the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, which can hold up to seven passengers so there’s no need to rent an extra vehicle.

Attractions In Nimes

The primary attractions in Nimes are the Roman remains and picturesque old town. The most notable Roman remains are the Maison Carree, an extremely well-preserved Roman temple, and the Arena, one of only three such large arenas in the south of France. Smaller remains include the Temple of Diana and the Tour Magne Roman tower.

The attractive center of Nimes features narrow streets, tree-lined avenues, peaceful green parks and historic churches. There are also several small museums.

Places To Visit Outside Nimes

Further Roman remains can be found out of town and are easy to access by rental car. These include the Pont du Gard, one of the finest surviving Roman aqueducts to be found anywhere, the arena at Arles and the amphitheater at Orange. More modern historic monuments include the Papal Palace at Avignon and the Crusaders’ port city of Aigues Mortes.

Those wanting to explore the natural beauty of the region with a car will find it just a stone’s throw from the city. To the north is Cevennes National Park and to the south are the Camargue wetlands, where you can spot pretty pink flamingos and wild white horses.
